Just like people, the needs of pets change as they age and advance from one life stage into another. At Gulf Coast Veterinary Hospital, we have wellness programs for any stage of your pet’s life, for optimal preventative health care at any age.

Puppies and kittens receive all of our core vaccinations and need to be spayed or neutered, unless they are to be used for breeding. All dogs are vaccinated against rabies, canine distemper, adenovirus, parainfluenza, parvovirus, and lepstospirosis. Felines are vaccinated against rabies, rhinotracheitis virus, panleukopenia virus and feline leukemia. We will instruct you how to care for your pet’s teeth at home, as well as determine the proper food and portions for your furry family member.

As your dog or cat reaches adulthood, we will continue vaccine boosters as necessary. Special attention will be paid to your pet’s teeth at this time as well. Finally, we recommend running blood work while your pet is at their healthiest in order to establish baseline values to compare as they age.

Senior wellness is very important at Gulf Coast Veterinary Hospital. Blood work is recommended yearly after your pet reaches five to seven years of age. Dental care is continued at this time to keep their mouth, as well as their heart, liver and kidneys healthy.

Dr. Sandifar and her experienced staff want to be there for the life of your pet. Please call to schedule an appointment, and we can begin a wellness program for your pet, regardless of their current age.
